This panorama of the medieval washhouse of Lavatolo is from the fishing village of Cefalu in Sicily. It was built during the Arab occupation (827-1090). Here the river still fills the tanks and pools smoothed by time. The image showing the sweep of the stairs aspires to capture the flow of the river so celebrated by the villagers. What is the washerwoman thinking while she waits for the waters to come? Perhaps it's the river's origins, which is said to be from the tears of a nymph who accidentally caused the death of her lover. Price will vary depending on your choice of size.
