Born in New York, David studied architecture at Syracuse University where he received his Bachelor of Arts, and Bachelor and Master of Architecture degrees. This educational experience helped develop a keen sense for form and composition, and creative ways to capture the beauty that so captivates his imagination.

While studying at Syracuse and receiving a National Endowment of the Arts Traveling Fellowship, David used his photographic and creative skills in presenting his personal impressions of our great country. Upon graduation and his move to Atlanta, David’s mixed media photographic assemblage was selected for exhibition at the High Museum.

His next twenty years were devoted to the practice of architecture, and the development of many fine homes in Atlanta, and oceanfront resort properties in South Carolina. Following that has been twenty years of renewed focus on drawing, painting and sculpting. Refining his skills under local artist Beverly Flanders and a Santa Fe, New Mexico plein air workshop with noted landscape artist Albert Handel, David has been able to share the images that have captivated his imagination.

Numerous trips to Italy and France have provided much of the visual inspiration for his paintings. These trips included many visits to Venice, and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to work in the studio of Sergio and Massimo Boldrin of La Bottega dei Mascareri, and learn the centuries-old craft of “papier maché” mask making.

Through his painting and mask making, David has found another way to share his visual interpretations with others. With a bold use of color, and keen eye for perspective and composition, he pays homage to the beauty of both nature and architecture that have always inspired his imagination. David still embraces the sentiment shared by his most flamboyant design professor at Syracuse that “the architect is truly today’s renaissance man.”
