I grew up with artists in my family: my grandmother gave me my first painting lessons. I began studying with Claudia Hartley before I had children and then studied at the Art School in Sandy Springs. I have been mentored by Jim Richards for the past 10 years while taking workshops with Gary Bodner, Nancy Franke, and Alice Williams. I love oil as a medium because of the richness of the colors along with its ability to mix and manipulate.

I am fascinated with painting boats ; their shapes and color truly intrigue me. I love the reflections in the water around them. I love to see the sunlight and how it highlights and surrounds things to create beautiful shadows. I love the color blue and am attracted to anything with that color. I’m always thinking about how I would paint what I see and am constantly working on doing so!
