Maya Horesh

Maya Nicole Horesh is an artist born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, who finds solace and joy in the meditative act of creation. She spends countless hours in her studio, immersed in her work, often with her cat curled up beside her. Her art is both a practice of precision and a release of spontaneity, structured yet free-spirited.
Her abstract paintings are like symphonies of color, each hue carefully chosen and placed with meticulous intention. For Maya, painting is a deeply satisfying process, like watching the pieces of a puzzle fall perfectly into place. Her harmonious use of color invites viewers to sink into a peaceful, serene space, where the world outside fades away.
In contrast, her pottery is an exercise in letting go. The carved lines in her vessels flow organically, almost as if the clay itself is guiding her hand. There’s beauty in the unpredictability, in the free-form nature of her designs. Each piece feels alive with texture and movement, offering a tactile experience that contrasts the structured precision of her paintings.
She honed her skills in ceramics with a Studio Art minor at Washington University in St. Louis, while teaching herself the art of painting. Through both mediums, she explores the balance between control and freedom, perfection and imperfection – always with the hope that her work brings a sense of happiness and serenity to those who encounter it.
